[Breathe a sigh of relief, as she's off to prepare such a brew~]

[ in most places, a black blur flitting by the window could be a bird or a small animal, and only a paranoid person would immediately think it was a thief, but in the City it could be anything. A healthy sense of curiosity and wariness prompted Clef to go to the window, open it, and lean out to look around. (This required standing on something, of course, but no one was around to see that.) ]

[Looking in another window was none other than Lantis. He moved on quickly to the next, clearly trying to avoid people in the process. And for those really observant, they might see a few droplets of blood hit the ground.]

Cail Lantis.

[ The other man didn't seem to have noticed him, but he indeed noticed the dark little droplets making a neat, if inconspicuous, trail in front of the windows. Without the blood, Lantis's behavior would have been merely eccentric. As it was, it warranted at least a question. ]

What are you doing?

[He froze because really he'd been trying to avoid anyone from noticing him. But, there was no avoiding this now. Turning around, he nodded a greeting to Clef.]

I was seeking out my room, Guru Clef.

You'll probably have to go shopping for warm clothes later.

[ Presea actually wears... leggings, gasp! ]

I can manage.

[ Clef glanced upwards for a split-second. ]

I see.

[ Then he glanced down at the droplets of blood. ]

I think you're bleeding.

[ With Lantis, often the direct approach was best. ]

[Well that's a good cue...to look down and see the droplets.]

It's a scratch.

[That's totally why he's hiding it too.]

That's a guilty reaction if I've ever seen one. It's obviously bad enough that you're hiding it and sneaking around outside to avoid people seeing you.

You might as well show it here and get it over with.

[ You'll feel much better for it, I promise! ]

[Well...he tried. He looks down at the ground instead.]

I'd...rather the Knights didn't see.

I won't tell them.

[A nod and he heads for the closest door to slip inside, wrapping his wound in his cape so blood doesn't get on the floor. Then he heads straight to Clef.]

Guru Clef.

How about the color of the sheets?

[ Is still standing on the chair when Lantis gets here. As silly as it might seem to an outside observer, he... well, he was already there. Might as well not make Lantis lean down for no reason.

Besides which, this was Lantis. He probably wouldn't laugh. ]

Lantis. [ Said as he inspects and cleans the wound, which he does without much remark. (It's good to have a first aid kit in the kitchen.) It's hardly a "scratch" but he has seen worse. ]

Was this why you decided to move in?

It really doesn't matter, Knight Fuu.

[Lantis stays quiet for the most part, not complaining, flinching, or wincing through the whole process. He knows that it's not likely to be pleasant at first.]

No...this happened after I made my decision.

Who did this, then?

[ His voice was still calm, but there was an edge to it. He had come to the conclusion that it was a person, because the notion of a monster getting him only after he decided to leave seemed too coincidental. ]

[And this is where Lantis falls quiet. For a long time. He can't hide it but he doesn't want to reveal it either. But, he knows that he has to. It's for the best...]

Eagle.

[ Now it was Clef's turn to fall silent. He scowled a little as he performed the healing spell, concentrating on making sure that the anger boiling somewhere behind his eyes didn't affect his magic at all. ]

Did he know of your decision?

He did.

[Why lie about that? It would be fairly obvious to anyone who looked at the Network long enough. That conversation hadn't been filtered and he knew that.]

[ Though it wasn't technically part of his job title Clef most certainly was a political figure back home, and it is a well-known fact that all politicians - even the most dedicated statesmen - are part lawyer. It would perhaps be disturbing, if not surprising, to note, then, that Clef's expression right now very much resembled that of a lawyer about to consume its prey. ]

This has become a larger issue, in that case.

[Lantis just remained quiet as he watched the magic heal his wound. What Eagle had been thinking by doing this was beyond him but he couldn't afford to fight then. That would have required the use of his sword. And he couldn't allow Eagle to see it if it meant that might aid the other in becoming a Pillar.]

[ When the spell had completed, he let out a quiet breath. Even having done it countless times before, he still found a certain sense of satisfaction in seeing unbroken skin where there had once been a gaping wound.

Only then did it occur to him to ask: ]

Did he say what it was he wanted?

[ Clef felt like he was asking way more questions than he'd normally permit himself, but up to this point Lantis's brief answers had required that they be asked. In the case of this particular one it no longer mattered. Surely he could - no, he definitely would - find out from Eagle later. ]

[Lantis studied the area when Clef was done. Not out of mistrust. Never that. He trusted his elder completely...no matter how Lantis acted to show that he no longer did. Which was why he also answered the questions he was asked honestly.]

He wanted to scan my sword, Guru Clef. He said it had the potential to be a key to the door to becoming a Pillar in his dimension.
